Irmo Wins 4A State Soccer Title Over Lexington on PKs

Irmo wins state 4A title.

Update: Irmo won the 4A state boys soccer title over Lexington on Saturday night, 4-3 in penalty kicks.

Neither team scored in regulation or four overtime periods.

But a Madison Gossett goal following an Irmo save gave the Yellow Jackets the title.

Original story: The Irmo Yellow Jackets and the Lexington Wildcats will compete for the 4A soccer state championship title Saturday. 

The two teams meet at 6 p.m. at Gilbert High School.

Irmo took home the Upper State Championship Tuesday night when they defeated Nation Ford, 3-1.

The Yellow Jackets will play for their 16th state championship title.

On the other side of the bracket, the Wildcats claimed the Lower State Championship Tuesday night . 

This is the first time the Lexington High boys soccer team has reached the finals of the state championship.
