It's Okra Strut Time! Annual Festival Kicks Off Friday
The two-day festival will be held on the streets surrounding the Irmo Town Park.

The Irmo Okra Strut Festival kicks off Friday.Â
This year's Irmo Okra Strut is the 40th anniversary for the the two-day festival, which will be held on the streets surrounding the Irmo Town Park. The festival features live music and entertainment, food, rides, an okra eating contest and a parade.
On Friday, Delbert McClinton and Lisa Haley & the Zydekats will perform. The street dance will be held from 6 to 11 p.m.Â
Saturday's events begin with a parade at 9 a.m. Later in the day, Rob Crosby will perform at 3 p.m.
According to the Irmo Police Department, the following streets will be closed during the two-day festival:
Streets closed at 7 a.m. on Friday until Saturday evening:
- Columbia Avenue at Woodrow Street
- Lexington Avenue at Woodrow Street
- Carlisle Street at Lake Murray Boulevard
- Mowers Street at Lake Murray Boulevard
- Lexington Avenue at Childs Street
- Columbia Avenue at Childs Street
- St. Andrews Road between Crossroads Middle School and Lake Murray Boulevard will be closed from 8:50 a.m. Saturday until the end of the parade around 12 p.m.
