Obit: Hugh Munn, Former SLED Spokesman
Dunbar Funerals and Cremations announced the passing of Hugh Emerson Munn, former State Law Enforcement Division spokesperson.

A celebration of life ceremony for Hugh Emerson Munn, former State Law Enforcement Division spokesperson, will be held Tuesday at New Heights Church, 5501 Broad River Road, Columbia.Â
Munn, 70, passed away on Oct. 19. Munn, who was born in Camden, S.C., was the son of the late Sarah Sheffield Munn and Lockard Archie Munn.Â
He spent 26 years as the chief spokesperson for SLED before retiring in 2002. From there, Munn went on to teach at the University of South Carolina's School of Journalism and Mass Communications, according to his obituary.

Munn is survived by his wife, Linda Hudson Munn; their daughters Sarah Elizabeth Munn Hobbs and Melissa Christine Munn; mother-in-law Margaret Hudson; son-in-law Matthew Hobbs; grandchildren Alexander Blane Taylor and Liza Kay Hobbs; brothers and sisters-in-law Philip and Joan Munn, Harold and Jane Munn; and sister-in-law Barbara Munn Moore. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lockard Archie Munn Jr., and his father-in-law, Luther Hudson.
The celebration of life ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The family will hold a private burial.Â
