From 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, purchase handmade items and bid during a silent auction to benefit Ballentine Elementary School teacher Kim Sullivan.

The Irmo community has joined together to help raise money for a Ballentine Elementary School teacher battling cancer.
The HeARTs and Hands Together Silent Auction will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Our Hands Together Artisan Market, 101 Ballentine Park Road, Suite A, Irmo, to benefit Ballentine Elementary art teacher Kim Sullivan.
Sheri Carder Hood, owner of Our Hands Together, said the event was organized by Sarah Newman-Norlund who volunteers in Sullivan's art class.

Ballentine Elementary teachers united together to support Sullivan by donating their leave time. Knowing that Sullivan would need more time and support to fight the disease, Newman-Norlund looked for another way to lend a hand.Â
Newman-Norlund partnered with Hood to host the silent auction.Â

Local businesses and community members joined in and have donated more than 100 items to be auctioned, Hood said.
Items include a YMCA membership, gift certificates, jewelry, original art and more.
The event will also feature games and activities for the kids and a DJ.Â
All of the proceeds from the silent auction will go directly to Sullivan. In addition to the proceeds, Our Hands Together is donating 5 percent of all sales for the month of May.Â
If you can't make the event, Hood said she will accept the donations by check which will be given to Sullivan.Â
