Teen Suspected in Vehicle Break-in near Irmo Arrested

A Columbia teen is charged with breaking into a motor vehicle and tampering with a motor vehicle.

Lexington County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 19-year-old in connection with a vehicle break-in near Irmo.

Christian Stephen Windom, of Longcreek Drive in Columbia, was charged Friday with breaking into a motor vehicle and tampering with a motor vehicle.

Around 12 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a call of a motor vehicle break-in in process outside a home on Ripley Station Road, according a sheriff’s department release. Witnesses provided deputies with a description of the suspect.

Deputies saw Windom walking near the intersection of Cannondale Road and Cannondale Court, carrying a black canvas Targus zipper bag used to carry a laptop computer, the release said.

The bag contained an Acer Aspire laptop computer worth about $500 that had been reported stolen from the vehicle that was parked outside the Ripley Station Road home.

Windom was being held Friday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.
