Two Burglary Suspects Grabbed by RichCo Deputy

The two men were apprehended Tuesday in the Heron Ridge neighborhood between Irmo and Northeast Columbia.

Two men were arrested this week after a deputy noticed suspicious activity in the Heron Ridge neighborhood.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of Wayne Heriot (DOB: 10/31/1994) and Alexander Hollins (DOB: 09/14/1990) charged with burglary.

While on patrol in the Heron Ridge Community just before noon on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, a Richland County Sheriff’s Deputy observed an unoccupied vehicle parked in a vacant area of the subdivision. The Deputy continued patrolling the 500 block of Heron Drive and noticed the back door of a residence wide open.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that the deputy retuned to the suspicious vehicle and found Hollins behind the wheel, and Heriot running from the woods towards the vehicle. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that both Heriot and Hollins fled the area on foot – the two were apprehended a short distance away after deputies gave chase. Sheriff Leon Lott added that at 514 Heron Drive (residence with the back door wide open), two televisions and a plastic bag of electronic items were bundled together at the front door just inside the home.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Heriot and Hollins have been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
