- Paper: newspapers and inserts, magazines
- Plastic bottles and jugs #1-7: plastics must have a screw-on top or be bottle-shaped with a neck that is smaller than the base. (No egg cartons, plastic bags, yogurt/sour cream/butter tubs or other food containers that do not have a screw-on top and are not shaped like a bottle.)

Find a recycling center near you.
The recycling centers are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays. The locations also are open from 3 to 7 p.m. Sundays.
Items accepted:
- Paper: newspaper and inserts
- Glass: clear, green and brown glass
- Metal: aluminum, steel
- Plastic bottles and jugs #1-7: plastics must have a screw-on top or be bottle-shaped with a neck that is smaller than the base. (No egg cartons, plastic bags, yogurt/sour cream/butter tubs or other food containers that do not have a screw-on top and are not shaped like a bottle.)
- Other: batteries (vehicle and small lead acid, ni-cad and alkaline); foam rubber, metals (stoves, grills, etc.); used motor oil (5 gallon limit), oil filters and oil bottles; black nursery containers and bedding trays; textiles (clothing, shoes, sheets, etc.).
- Landfill accepts tires, white goods.
For electronic items, residents can discard the items at the following locations:
Lexington County
- Edmund Landfill, 498 Landfill Lane, Lexington; 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday (proof of residency required); Items accepted: Computers, Monitors, TVs, Printers, Fax Machines, Stereo Equipment, PDAs, Games, etc.
Richland County
- Richland County C&D Landfill, 1070 Caughman Road North, off Monticello Road, Columbia (Hours: Monday - Friday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) Proof of residency is required. Items accepted: Computers and computer accessories (keyboards, monitors, printers, scanners), Televisions 40” or smaller – no consoles, Stereos – no consoles, Household electronics including VCRs, DVD players, power tools, radios, fax machines, and small appliances, Microwave ovens, Telephones (land and cell), pagers and answering machines
