20 Lexington One Students Accepted into Governor's School

The Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities gives students the opportunity to study their art in a supportive environment.

The Govenor’s School for the Arts and Humanities accepted 20 Lexington One students for the 2013–2014 school year.

Students applied and auditioned to attend the school that gives artistically talented middle and high school students from across the state the opportunity to study their art in a supportive environment of artistic and academic excellence in the areas of creative writing, dance, drama, music and visual arts.

Students accepted into the Summer Discovery program include: Lexington Middle students Mary Boyt, Riley Poole and David Savastano; Meadow Glen Middle students Sabrina Allison and Briana Richards; Pleasant Hill Middle students Haley Hill, Lauren Kinard, Leah Kincaid and Evelyn Stith.

Students accepted into the Summer Academy program include: Lexington High students Isabella Dunsieth, Logan Ehney, Colin Milligan, Matthew Mullin, Emmanuel Parker, Camille Riddle; and White Knoll High student Meira Charles.

Students accepted into the Summer Dance program include Madison Estridge from Lexington High and Annacate Gray from Pleasant Hill Middle.

Students accepted into the Residential High School include Maygen Bazemore from Pelion High and Kyle Peck from Lexington High. The nine-month program is modeled after a community with an arts faculty of practicing artists and educators in their area of expertise.
