Funeral Set for Lexington County Journalist Vicki Shealy

Funeral services for Vicki Shealy, a former editor at the Lexington County Chronicle, are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church in Chapin. 

Shealy, wife of Chapin Mayor Stanley E. Shealy, passed away Sunday, according to her obituary. She worked as a journalist for 40 years at newspapers in South Carolina, and retired from the Chronicle in February.

Lexington County Council recognized Shealy in June for her years of journalism service in the county. 

In August, Lexington Town Council also recognized Shealy. In honor of her years of fair reporting, the town named the area reserved for members of the media in the council chambers the "Vicki Shealy Media Corner."

Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Caughman-Harman Funeral home Chapin Chapel.
