Lexington Celebrates Earth Day with 'Green is Clean' Event

The Town of Lexington, Lexington County and Rainwater Solutions are celebrating Earth Day all month long in April.

The kickoff event, “Green is Clean” Backyard Earth Day Event, is April 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lexington Square Park in downtown Lexington on the corner of Main Street and South Lake Drive.

Residents can pre-order a 50-gallon rain barrel and an 88-gallon compost bin at a discounted price through Rainwater Solutions. Rain barrels are $53 and compost bins are $63. Pre-ordered rain barrels can be picked up during the April 6 event.

The event will also feature educational booths dedicated to backyard conservation techniques such as composting, water conservation techniques, soil conservation, gardening and landscaping, raising backyard chickens and more.
