Lexington One Hires 2 Administrators for Meadow Glen Middle

The two new assistant administrators start at Meadow Glen Middle July 1.

Meadow Glen Middle School has two new assistant administrators for the 2013-2014 school year. 

The Lexington One Board of Trustees approved the hire of Kailanya S. Brailey and Kyle J. Meetze during their June 25 meeting.

Brailey currently teaches English language arts at Chapin Middle School.

She has eight years of education experience and began her education career in January 2005 as a permanent substitute at Rawlinson Road Middle School in the Rock Hill schools. She joined Bethune-Bowman Middle High School in Orangeburg Consolidated School District 5 in August of 2005, where she taught. She also served as assistant band director at North Middle High School in Orangeburg 5. Brailey moved to Chapin Middle School in 2008.

Brailey has a Bachelor of Arts in secondary education (English) from Winthrop University and a Master of Science in curriculum, instruction and assessment from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She will graduate with a Master of Education in educational administration from the University of South Carolina in August 2013. She holds certifications in secondary teaching (English language arts), middle level teaching (English language arts) and secondary school leadership and is a licensed facilitator for Franklin Covey’s “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” training and a National Board Certified Teacher.

She is a member of the Palmetto State Teachers Association and the USC Columbia Chapter of the Golden Key International Honor Society. She was named Chapin Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2011–2012.

Meetze, who was also hired for the position of assistant administrator for Meadow Glen Middle School, currently serves as lead teacher for the TWO Academies, a single gender magnet program at Dent Middle School in Richland School District Two.

He has nine years of education experience and began his education career in 2004 as a science teacher at Dent Middle School in the TWO Academies program. He became lead teacher there in 2007.

Meetze graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina’s Honors College with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He also has a Master of Arts in Teaching in secondary education (biology) and a Master of Education in educational leadership from the University of South Carolina. He holds certifications in secondary teaching (science), middle level teaching (science) and secondary school leadership and is a National Board Certified Teacher.

He is a member of the Palmetto State Teachers Association, South Carolina Science Council and ASCD (formerly the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development). He has been a presenter at the International Boys’ Schools Coalition Conference, the National Association of Single Sex Public Education National Conference and the South Carolina Teacher to Teacher Conference.
