Obituary: Nancy Carbulena Garrett Griggs of Mauldin

Mrs. Nancy Carbulena Garrett Griggs, widow of John Henry Griggs, and daughter of the late Walter Lee and Nancy Sullivan Garrett, passed March 1, 2013.

Member of Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church. She was educated in Greenville County Schools. She attended Spelman College, and received a B.A from Benedict College. She received her M.A from North Carolina A & T State University and she did additional studies at South Carolina State College and Clemson University. She was a member of Benedict College Alumni and a Founding Charter of Zeta Phi Beta Inc., Eupsilon Iota Zeta Greenville Chapter. 

Nancy worked in the following: Simpsonville Elementary, Greenville School, Sterling High, Beck High, and Eastside High for 38 years before retiring at Riverside High School as an Assistant Principal.

Nancy's favorite pastime was playing bridge. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League and she had obtained the rank of Silver Life Master.

Funeral service will be Thursday, March 7, 2013 1:00PM at Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church with visition from 12:00PM until 12:45PM prior to service, burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers make donations to Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church, Benedict College or any charity of your choice in memory of Nancy G. Griggs.
