Hope for Haiti 5K Trail Run

3rd Annual Hope for Haiti 5K Trail Run fights child hunger in Haiti.

Light from Light’s 3rd Annual Hope for Haiti 5K Trail Run will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, and will raise money to fight child malnutrition, one of the leading causes of death in Haitian children. The tree-lined course begins at the North Mount Pleasant Chick-fil-A and winds through the beautiful Oakland Plantation. Walkers and runners alike are sure to enjoy this family and dog-friendly race, which is presented by Chick-fil-A North Mount Pleasant and Mountain Creek Contractors.

Visit http://my2.raceresult.com/93201/?lang=en to take advantage of early registration discounts, and pay only $10 for children (ages 4-12), $15 for students (ages 13-17), and $30 for adults (ages 18 and up) when you register before August 1. Children age three and under are free, so be sure to bring the whole family!

All funds raised through the event will go to Light from Light, a Mount Pleasant based non-profit that financially supports the Lespwa Timoun “Hope for Children” Medical Clinic in Haiti. The clinic’s Nutrition Program has served over 10,400 children since it began in 2003, and is currently serving over 1,000 malnourished Haitian children. Light from Light strives to strengthen the foundations of progress in Haitian communities living in extraordinary poverty and chaos, empowering them for long-lasting change.

Chick-fil-A North Mount Pleasant’s vision to nourish, serve and transform their team, guests and community, is why they’ve generously supported the Hope for Haiti 5K Trail Run as a presenting sponsor for three years. The store’s owner and operator, John Wrenn, feels privileged to partner with Light from Light, an organization that is helping to change the lives of malnourished children in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. “I hope and pray our efforts are magnified in ways we cannot imagine to bring relief to these hungry children,” he says. “I encourage everyone in the community to come out and run or walk one of the most beautiful 5K courses in the low country!”

Online race registration is available until September 7, and same day registration is available until 8:30 AM. This family friendly event is rain or shine. Prizes, finisher medals and kid ribbons will be distributed. All race participants and supporters are invited to enjoy music, bouncy house and games following the race.
