The Town of Mount Pleasant will repair and relocate the unused bus shelter on Ben Sawyer Blvd. to the area's busiest bus stop. Â The shelter was vandalized in July. Â This will be the forth bus stop upgraded by the town this year.
Two others will be upgraded with shelters as part of the requirements for a Hotel and redevelopment plan at Mount Pleasant Town Center. Â Hungryneck Straphangers and East Cooper Community outreach have also upgraded other stops with temporary benches.
Ridership on the CARTA 40 bus passed 14 thousand per month for the first time since major highway construction tore up stops and sidewalks two years ago in August and is well on the way to reaching and surpassing it's historic peak before the start of construction.
The stop currently has two very worn concrete benches. Full details and images on our Hungryneck Straphangers website.
