Man Bitten by Shark on Isle of Palms

Man's injuries are not life-threatening.

A swimmer on Isle of Palms was reportedly attacked by a shark Tuesday, according to media reports.

The injury was apparently not life-threatening, but the swimmer was transported to a hospital for medical attention.

Emergency workers said the man had a 3 to 4 inch gash in his lower extremities, which was reportedly caused by the shark.

Shark attacks are rare on local beaches, but sharks do frequent local waters. A bull shark was recently found beached on Sullivan's Island and a great white has been tracked in local waters.
