Mount Pleasant Man Arrested for Practicing Law Without a License
Suspect has a history of practicing without a license in Washington, records show.

A Mount Pleasant man who once had a distinguished law career in Washington state has been arrested and charged with practicing law in South Carolina without a license, according to media reports.
Bradley R. Marhsall, 55, of Mount Pleasant, was arrested and charged Friday by state authorities for practicing law without a license. He reportedly represented several North Charleston residents on workman’s compensation claims, according to the Post and Courier.Â
Marhsall at one time was a noted civil rights attorney and sports agent in Washington State, but he was disbarred in 2009, according to the Washington Practice of Law Board. He was accused in 2011 of practicing law there after being disbarred.
Washington authorities in 2011 threatened to send the case for prosecution if Marshall continued to take on legal work without a license, according to a letter posted on the Law Board's site. South Carolina authorities made the arrest last week after just one complaint from a local attorney who lost work to Marshall.
A 2010 investigation by The Seattle Times showed numerous complaints against Marhsall for dishonesty, malpractice, domestic violence and harassment, according to the report. At one time, Marshall represented NBA athletes as a sports agent.
Marshall has apparently appealed the disbarment all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court with no success. See legal documents relating to his appeals.Â
