Mount Pleasant Releases Marijuana Arrest Data
White males arrested far more often for pot in Mount Pleasant than other ethnicities, data shows.

Mount Pleasant police in 2012Â arrested far more white males for marijuana possession and sale than any other ethnicity or gender, according to data made public Tuesday afternoon.
More than 65 percent of all Mount Pleasant marijuana arrests in 2012 were white males, according to the data. That translates to 162 actual arrests. Black males accounted for 18 percent of all pot arrests, or 45 actual police bookings.
Mount Pleasant's population is roughly 90 percent white and 5 percent black, according to 2011 U.S. Census Bureau data.Â
