Mount Pleasant Robbery: Guilty Plea A Squeeze In Missing Teen Case: Lawyer

Timothy Taylor's lawyer said his client is being squeezed because the FBI wants details about Brittanee Drexel, who vanished in 2009.

CHARLESTON, SC — A man questioned by federal authorities in the disappearance of a New York teenager eight years ago plans to plead guilty to robbing a McDonald's in Mount Pleasant., South Carolina.

Timothy Taylor is charged in federal court with a September 2011 robbery of the Ironclad Alley restaurant and will likely plead guilty Wednesday unless a judge tosses the charges. He already pleaded guilty to the robbery in state court and was sentenced to probation.

Taylor's lawyer told The Post and Courier of Charleston the 26-year-old is being squeezed because the FBI wants information he doesn't have about Brittanee Drexel. The Rochester, New York girl was 17 in 2009 when she disappeared during spring break at Myrtle Beach. Authorities believe she was gang-raped and killed. Her body was never found.

"There's nothing more we can do to assist the FBI investigation," defense attorney Mark Peper said. "We told them everything we know. They put the squeeze on him, but it wasn't fruitful. ... He's frustrated that he doesn't have the ability to help himself out."
