Police Searching for Robbery Suspect

Alleged accomplice arrested after citizen with gun intervenes.

Police are searching for Markel Jovan Wright, 23, of Huger, for a Wednesday evening robbery of the Kangaroo Express gas station at Hwy. 17 and Hwy. 41 in Mount Pleasant.

Police have arrested Wright's alleged accomplice, Deion Watson, 17, according to reports. He was held at gunpoint by a citizen who saw the armed robbery unfold and held the suspects at bay until officers arrived.

Police have not identified the citizen, citing safety concerns since one suspect is still at large. 

The armed robbery call came in before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to reports. It was the third robbery of the same gas station in less than a week, according to police. 

The suspect's in last night's hold-up entered the store demanding money with T-shirts covering their faces. At some point in the robbery, a shot was fired, but no one was injured.

Anyone with information about Markel Jovan Wright's whereabouts is asked to contact police at 843-884-4176. He is wanted on armed robbery charges, and police advise that he is considered armed and dangerous.
