William Bishop Sheck of Hilton Head Island, S.C., formerly of Stamford, CT., died Tuesday, October 25, 2016. He would have turned 89 on November 14th.
Before retiring to South Carolina, Mr. Sheck was a renowned landscape architect in Fairfield County, CT, where he served as Chairman of Stamford's Parks and Recreation Committee, and was responsible for the implementation and design of multiple parks and public spaces, including Fort Stamford. In his early years, Mr. Sheck worked as a waiter and singer at the Three Pines Inn in Lewisboro, NY, owned by his older brother, George W. Sheck; both were members of the Masonic Order. Later, Mr. Sheck expanded his career and became a successful builder and developer in the Stamford area; he worked closely with his loving wife of nearly half a century, Barbara, who survives him.
Mr. Sheck leaves behind his beloved daughter Laurel Lea Sheck, and his step children Heidi Donald of Mt. Pleasant, Stephen Schless of Edmunton, Canada, Hope Wise, and their children. He was predeceased by his sons William Bishop Sheck, Jr., and Robert K. Sheck, his grand daughter Robin K. Sheck, nephew Haywood Sheck, and beloved brother George Sheck, Sr. Much loved survivors also include his nephews, Clark W. Sheck of Lewisboro, NY, and George Sheck, Jr. of Bluffton, SC., and their children.

Mr. Sheck's grandchildren delighted him; they include Ariel Rose and Sage Bishop Genovese , formerly of South Salem, NY., and Carly and Robert Sheck of Stamford, CT.
