  1. One man was arrested, and six dogs were seized thanks to a video posted on social media. The animal abuse case came about when Horry County Police and Horry County Animal Care Center were made aware of a video showing a dog being abused. Based on tips from the community, a Conway man was arrested and charged with animal abuse. The six dogs are not available for adoption at this time. (Facebook)
  2. This weekend's Juneteenth celebration just happened to coincide perfectly with Myrtle Beach's annual Black History Celebration. Last year, the latter event was cancelled due to COVID-19. During this year's celebration, Betty Poole Richardson, a former Horry County teacher, was presented with the Mary C. Canty Service Award. (WMBF)
  3. The Horry County Republican Party could be in some hot water for failing to file disclosure forms with the State Ethics Commission. An emergency meeting was held Friday night for the party's executive committee. It was discovered that the party had failed to file disclosures detailing contributions and expenditures from April,2017 through April 2021. (MyHorryNews.com)
  4. Reaction to Horry County Council's unanimous vote regarding new flood regulations has some residents saying they'd like to also see a rule against new developments being built in flood zones. But Horry County Rising's founder, April O'Leary, maintains that the actions that will be taken are unprecedented in SC. She also points out that federal law allows building in flood zones. (WMBF)
  5. A Myrtle Beach couple who met nearly 70 years ago on a beach in France celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last week. The bride wore her original wedding dress, which was also worn by two of her daughters at their weddings. (WPDE)
