  1. By the time you read this newsletter, Tropical Storm Elsa will be moving through the Carolinas, mainly west of the coastline. The Grand Strand should still expect heavy rain with street flooding due to the rain falling in a short window of time. Wind is not expected to be too much of a problem, but outdoor items should be secured or brought indoors. Be mindful of rip currents if you're at the beach! (WMBF)
  2. Grand Strand Humane Society needs to vacate its facility that has served the community's homeless pets for the last two decades. The building is in disrepair. The GSHS will have to move its offices, and approximately 300 animals, somewhere else by August 1st. A search is underway for a temporary facility while the repairs happen, and the organization is limiting intakes. Folks are reminded that there are lots of pets that need fostering or permanent homes. (wpde.com)
  3. A man broke into The Galley gift shop in Myrtle Beach, cracked a safe, but was caught in the middle of the break-in by an employee. The man escaped, but was nabbed by police nearby. He was charged with 2nd degree non-violent burglary and safecracking. (WBTW)
  4. A former Horry County DSS investigator has been charged with misconduct after a child's death. The woman, a child protective services investigator, is alleged to have created a false report on a family that she allegedly never met with or visited. The report was allegedly created after the child's death. (WIS10)
  5. A Spartanburg family vacationing in Myrtle Beach at Ocean Lakes Campground for the July 4th holiday ended their trip with a teen in the hospital after a beach fight. It is suspected that some teenagers on the beach were doing football drills and a group of adult men jumped them. A teenage male was hit in the face with a beer can, was knocked unconscious, and sustained a broken nose as he attempted to calm things down. He was brought to the hospital for treatment. (WBTW)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
