Horry County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Horry County is August 23. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Horry County School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/14 - 8/22: Teacher Work/Staff Development Days
• 8/23: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/9: No School for Students (Teacher Work/Staff Development Day)

November

• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/20 - 12/29: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/2: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/12: Early Dismissal for Students
• 1/15: No School (MLK Day)
• 1/16: No School for Students (Teacher Work/Staff Development Day)

February

• 2/19: No School for Students (Teacher Work/Staff Development Day)

March

• 3/30: No School (Spring Break)

April

• 4/2 - 2/6: No School (Spring Break)

May

• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/4: Early Dismissal for Students
• 6/5: Last Day for Students, Early Dismissal
• 6/6: Last Day for Teachers
