The Myrtle Beach Daily is the quickest way to get caught up on all things happening in town today.

Good morning, people of the Grand Strand! It's me again, Kathy Mandell, your host of the Myrtle Beach Daily. Today is Saturday, July 10, 2021, and here are the stories I'm bringing your way: Horry County gave a thumbs' down to a new housing development on Highway 90, meanwhile, the expansion of the former Hard Rock Park area in Fantasy Harbour has been approved, a fight broke out at Broadway at the Beach and injured four security officers, Senator Graham continues his push for Interstate 73 funding, and Forestbrook will get $1 million towards flood mitigation.
Before I tell you about all that, here is today's weather: Humid and mostly cloudy throughout the day. High: 89 Low: 77.

- Horry County leaders voted against a new housing development on Highway 90 after residents got to express their concerns at a meeting this week. Folks who live in the area say a subdivision would impact the area negatively in terms of infrastructure, emergency services, and the fact that flooding has occurred in the area. The measure still needs to go before county council. (WMBF)
- Meanwhile, change could be coming to the Fantasy Harbour area of Myrtle Beach. The failed Hard Rock Park, known later as the equally unsuccessful Freestyle Music Park, is likely to be re-zoned and expanded to accommodate several businesses. It may be used for a distribution or transportation site, or for storage, restaurants, and more. (wpde.com)
- A huge fight broke out at Broadway at the Beach's Señor Frog's restaurant during the holiday weekend, but reports are just surfacing now. A crowd of people assaulted four security officers on site. No arrests were made, and there is little information on suspects. (wpde.com)
- Senator Lindsey Graham has requested $15 million for Horry County to complete a right-of-way for a section of interstate highway that would connect the Grand Strand to I-95. Originally, Graham had stated he would ask the federal government for $12 million, but he increased that amount in his actual earmark request. (WMBF)
- Forestbrook and Socastee have secured a $1 million earmark to help mitigate flood risk from Socastee Creek. The earmark was obtained by State Representative Heather Crawford, and her husband, Horry County Councilmember Cam Crawford, who are residents of the Forestbrook neighborhood. The fund will be used to create a flood bench along the creek. (Charleston Post Courier)
