Abandoned Baby Found, Taken to Hillcrest Hospital

An abandoned baby was found and taken to Hillcrest Hospital in Simpsonville on Wednesday and is now in the custody of the county's Department of Social Services, WSPA reported.

The report said the baby is healthy and weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces.

The report doesn't say how the baby was found or where. It is being held under Daniel's law, the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act. A hearing about the baby is scheduled for sometime in April. 

Any person seeking to assert parental rights to the baby must do so at the hearing, the story said.
