Simpsonville City Council Races Set

Three Council incumbents face challengers.

With the filing period now closed, three Simpsonville City Council incumbents will be challenged for their seats in the Nov. 5 election.

The non-partisan elections shake out as follows:

  • In Ward 2, incumbent Council member Brown Garret will face challenges from Taylor Graham and Deidre White Odumakinde.
  • In Ward 4, incumbent Council member Julius Welborn will face off against Elizabeth Anne Braswell and former Council member James A.R. Fowler, Jr.
  • And, in Ward 6, incumbent Council member Sylvia Lockaby faces a challenge from Judy Hunter.

In the first two races, which consist of three candidates, a run-off election will be necessary two weeks later if neither candidate wins a majority of the vote.
