Simpsonville Council Looking at Traffic Congestion

Downtown traffic an issue the city needs to address this year, Council says.

A persistent trouble spot is the intersection of Main and Curtis streets, the news report said. A state traffic engineer has been tasked with coming up with solutions at intersections there, where drivers may sometimes have to wait through a series of lights just to be able to turn.

But options to ease congestion could be tricky and expensive, since engineers will have to contend with the number of cars, businesses built close to the street, railroad tracks, and multiple intersections, the news report noted.

Nonetheless, the Council has put the congestion issue on this year's "should-do" list.
