Simpsonville Police Officer Receives State Recognition

Sgt. Jeffrey Robertson wins state award.

The Simpsonville Police Department announced Friday that Sgt. Jeffrey Robertson has received the state's Traffic Safety Instructor Award.

This award is given by the SC Office of Highway Safety and the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy. 

In order to be considered for this award, an officer first must receive the Traffic Safety Officer Award. The TSO Award requires an officer to receive over 300 hours of training in six collision investigation and reconstruction classes.

Sgt. Robertson received his TSO Award in 2007. He had to complete approximately 240 additional hours of training in five collision investigation and reconstruction classes, all of which he had to maintain a passing average of 80 percent or better. 

Sgt. Robertson is the 31st person in South Carolina to receive the award out of approx. 17,000 certified law enforcement officers.
