Simpsonville's Ansley Speaks Named Tennis All-American

The Mauldin High star is one of only 40 nationwide to receive the honor.

Mauldin High School senior Ansley Speaks has been named a National High School Tennis All-American, the school announced.

The Simpsonville native, who will play for Furman University next year, was one of only 40 girls selected nationally by the National High School Tennis All-American Foundation.

To be eligible the athlete must maintain an above average academic and citizenship record, compete on a high school tennis team, and garner an individual national ranking.

Speaks is an honor roll student at MHS, and this year won the girl's state singles title in tennis while also leading the Lady Mavs to a third straight 4A state title this school year.

Recruiting and player ranking services list Speaks as one of the top two players in the state, and routinely ranked her in the top 10 in the Southeast and in the top 20 or 30 nationally.
