Simpsonville Scheduled for Unique BMX Bike Event

The "Strider World Cup" will feature toddlers on the company's brand of no-pedal bikes.

Strider Sports International is bringing the Strider World Cup to Simpsonville for the USA BMX East Coast Nationals on Saturday, September 22 at Donnie Ballew’s Ultimate Challenge BMX, located at 417 Baldwin Road.

This is not your normal BMX race. Unlike a typical BMX bike, Striders are a brand of pedal-less bikes designed for toddlers who have not yet mastered standard bicycles.

"The Strider Cup and Strider World Cup events are play experiences designed to let toddlers and young kids age 18 months to five years old explore the world on two wheels," the company said in a release. "Whether it is test riding a Strider No-Pedal Bike for the first time or racing Striders on a dirt track with other toddlers, Strider World Cup events have something for every family interested in giving their child a head start [on standard bikes]."

The Strider World Cup race will drop the gate at 11:15 a.m., with registration from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The whole family can enjoy the Strider experience at the Adventure Zone from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Toddlers can test ride their favorite Strider on the obstacle course while playing, learning, and socializing with peers on two wheels, the company said.

The season-long Strider World Cup series gives toddlers ages two to five the chance for friendly competition at events across the country. No prior experience needed. "The Strider World Cup races are perfect for both beginners and more experienced riders alike," according to the company.

USA BMX Strider memberships are available for $25. The membership includes the racer’s first Strider World Cup race and a USA BMX membership card. Participating in a race at any USA BMX National will qualify the racer for the Strider World Championship in Florida at Sarasota BMX October 12-13.

Strider Sports founder and CEO Ryan McFarland said, “At Strider Sports we are committed to supporting a fun, safe, and healthy lifestyle through bicycling. The USA BMX races are the perfect venue to showcase the Strider World Cup and the Strider Adventure Zone program which promote those goals. There is nothing quite like seeing a child overflow with confidence and self-esteem when they realize, ‘I did it!’ In that moment, you know they’ve found a love of cycling that will keep them fit and healthy for years to come.”
