Video: Simpsonville Citizens Chastise Council Over Behavior

Despite tighter rules, and even tighter security, Simpsonville City Council gets another earful from Keith Grounsell supporters.

For the third Simpsonville City Council meeting in a row, supporters of fired police chief Keith Grounsell took to the lectern Tuesday night to decry his termination and chastise Council.

With the exception of Simpsonville resident Stephanie Kelley, who rose to speak in the Council's defense, five others spoke out against the Council for terminating Grounsell, as well as whom Eichor alleged conspired to improperly hire Lawrence's son-in-law as a police officer. Both Grounsell and Lawrence have denied the charge and have said they welcome an investigation.

— not to mention a greater police presence and security screenings of crowd members before they entered chambers.

While the public comments have made the news in recent weeks, the big news Tuesday night was the surprise decision to hire interim police chief Steve Moore on a permanent basis. Still, comments made by the public Tuesday night were noteworthy given the ongoing controversy that festers within the city.

Watch the video above for highlights of the comments from those who signed up to speak.
