Weekend Fun: Football Jamboree, Bluegrass, Stargazing, and More
Here's your guide to fun this weekend in the Golden Strip.

The Mauldin Cultural Center's Railroad Concert Series continues on Friday, August 16 with a performance from Greenville-based bluegrass band, West End String Band.Â
The concert is free and open to the public and begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Center's Outdoor Amphitheater.
Several area teams are playing Saturday in the JL Mann Jamboree. Here's what we know: Riverside plays Blue Ridge at 6:30 p.m. at J.L. Mann Jamboree; Greer plays Mauldin at 7:30 p.m. at J.L. Mann Jamboree. Admission is $5.Â

See the stars Friday night at Roper Mountain Science Center. Planetarium shows are held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. each Friday. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for children 4 and up, $4 for seniors.

A farmers market is open from 8 a.m. until noon Saturdays through August at the Anglican Church of St George the Martyr, 427 Batesville Road, Simpsonville. Vendors will sell jams, eggs, baked goods and fresh vegetables. Yum! Additoionally, the Simpsonville Farmers Market is open 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays at City Park on East Curtis Street. The Iron Horse, a miniature train replica of an early vintage steam locomotive, is in operation from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays and 1-6 p.m. Sundays at Heritage Park, 868 S.E. Main St., Simpsonville. Tickets are $2; children under 2 admitted free. Call 864-967-9533.
