
The Joint Base Charleston community will bid farewell to Col. Richard McComb and welcome its new commander, Col. Jeffrey DeVore, during a formal change of command ceremony on the Air Base, Aug. 29 at 9 a.m.Â
As the commander of Joint Base Charleston, McComb provided installation support to a total force of more than 86,000 Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, dependents and retirees across both the Air Base and Weapons Station.Â
McComb took command in July 2011 and is scheduled for an assignment to the Pentagon in Washington D.C.Â

Replacing him is Col. Jeffery DeVore. DeVore has commanded at the squadron and group level. He has also flown numerous combat missions in direct support of Operations Safe Haven, Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Joint Endeavor, Joint Guard, Joint Forge, Allied Force, Shining Hope, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Joint Task Force Horn of Africa.Â
