Oakbrook Middle Names Media Center for Retired Principal
School media center named for Garland Crump.

Press release, Dorchester County School District Two
Retired Principal Garland Crump will always have a presence at Oakbrook Middle School where he served as principal for twenty-five years. On May 29th the school hosted a special program in which they dedicated the school media center as the Garland W. Crump Media Center. The dedication was attended by students, faculty and staff, school board members and school district officials.
When Dorchester School District Two opened the new Oakbrook Middle School in 1987, Garland Crump was selected as principal and he served in that capacity until retiring in June 2012. Brion Rutherford, current Oakbrook Middle School principal, told the audience that the school faculty and staff wanted to honor Mr. Crump for his years of dedicated service to the school. Mr. Crump’s well-known passion for reading and his emphasis on literacy skills for students over the years made the decision an easy one.
