The American Red Cross provided disaster relief assistance early Monday evening to a man who was displaced by a fire that completely destroyed his mobile home at 137 Avalon Road, off of W. Butternut Road. Â
The Red Cross provided him with funds for lodging, clothing and food. A comfort kit was also provided, which includes basic hygiene items. Â The man also received referrals to local partnering agencies.Â
On average the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6 & 1/2 hours. Since January 1, 2013, the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of more 1,200 families and 3,800 individuals affected by disaster.
