Summerville Chamber Honors Dorchester County Top Teachers

Each year the Chamber recognizes Teachers of the Year for their contributions to the growth and development of Dorchester County youths.

The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce honored the 2013 Dorchester County Teachers of the Year at a luncheon held on Monday, May 20, at Bethany United Methodist Church. Each year the Chamber recognizes Teachers of the Year for their contributions to the growth and development of Dorchester County youths.

Nancyjean Nettles, the 2013 board chair for the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber, began the program by welcoming guests and did the Pledge of Allegiance. Afterward, Jay Franko, Student Council president and Federico Martinez, Beta Club president from Summerville Catholic School gave the invocation. During the event, the Summerville High School Musical Theatre preformed Les Miserables and Rollings Middle School of the Arts String Ensemble played several numbers. Before the awards were handed out Steve Wichmann, executive vice president of Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union, along with Dr. Mary Thornley, president of Trident Technical College, made a few remarks and congratulated all the teachers being recognized.
