Summerville Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Justin Eugene Berry (DOB: 08/24/1977) of Summerville, S.C. on five (5) counts involving the sexual exploitation of minors.  The Attorney General's Office, which supervises the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, made the arrest.  

On December 31, 2012, Berry distributed files containing child pornography to an undercover law enforcement officer from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, an ICAC participating agency. He was arrested on October 2, 2013.  The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, another ICAC member, assisted in the search and arrest.

Berry is charged with five (5) counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor second degree (§16-15-405), a felony offense punishable by up to ten (10) years imprisonment on each count.

Berry is a Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy.   NCIS was notified of the arrest.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.

Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
