Summerville Woman Killed in Fatal Wreck
Amanda Carey, 21, was ejected from a vehicle in the Saturday night wreck.
A 21-year-old Summerville woman was killed Saturday night after being ejected from a vehicle during a wreck, according to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet.
The woman killed is Amanda Carey. Carey's friend, Taylor Watkins, who was driving the vehicle was charged with driving under the influence, according to the Post and Courier.
S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck. Carey and Watkins were traveling northbound on Highway 17-A and, after the vehicle passed the intersection of Highway 61, wrecked while trying to pass another vehicle, according to Highway Patrol.
Edited 11:30 a.m. Aug. 26 to correct that Watkins was Carey's friend, not cousin, as originally reported.
