Three Children, One Adult Displaced by Briarwood Fire

Red Cross asks for donations to help the temporarily displaced family.

The local American Red Cross provided immediate emergency assistance to one adult and three children affected by a home fire Thursday evening in Briarwood.

The fire was at 206 Chessington Circle. 

The Red Cross provided the residents with food and temporary lodging in a nearby hotel. The Red Cross also provided referrals to partner agencies to assist in long-term recovery.

On average the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. Since the beginning of the fiscal year, July 1, 2012, the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of 1,472 families and 4,794 individuals affected by disasters.

The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross Chapters that span 35-counties of South Carolina.
