Town of Summerville Looking to Hire Events Coordinator

The 2014 budget for the Town of Summerville will include a new position: events coordinator. 

The town has budgeted $75,000 per year for the position. 

According to Councilman Bob Jackson, the events coordinator will update and upgrade the town's website, bring in events to the town, promote tourism, act as a press liaison and, in general, help promote the town. 

No vote was taken on creation of the new position during last week's budget workshop. Jackson said he is not in favor of the position.
