5K Run To Be Held For American Cancer Society In Greer

Later this month, hundreds will run in Greer to raise money to fight cancer.

Hundreds are registered to participate later this month in the Moonlight 5K in Greer. 

The Moonlight 5K, which is held at 6:45 p.m. at the MESA Soccer Complex at 1020 Anderson Bridge Road in Greer, is being sponsored by the Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, Interim Healthcare and Essential StaffCARE. 

The event will be chip-timed for competitive runners, and will also allow participants to walk if so desired.

The proceeds of the run/walk go toward the American Cancer Society, which has a local office in Greenville that serves Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg and Union Counties.

The ACS serves its communities by providing resources such as wigs, hats, scarves and other items for those battling cancer, as well as providing crucial services like:

  • Road to Recovery -volunteer drivers give rides to and from treatment appointments
  • Reach to Recovery - one-to-one support visits for women with breast cancer made by carefully selected and trained breast cancer survivors
  • Look Good...Feel Better - complimentary make up kit and workshop conducted by a licensed cosmetologist to help women deal with appearance-related side effects of treatment.
  • I Can Cope - on-line patient/family education series that focuses on living with cancer Support Group information for patients and caregivers
