The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concluded that a fuse box terminal in those models could degrade over time, breaking the electrical connection with the battery, which could then cause a power outage in the vehicle. BMW confirmed one minor crash because of the problem.

The last recall affected the luxury brand's X5 model SUVs from the 2007 to 2010 model years, and was necessitated by a brake problem.
