BJU Grad Takes Home Vocal Competition Honors

Timothy Renner, who graduated from Bob Jones last year, gets 2nd Place honor at Opheous National Musical Competition.

A 2012 graduate of Bob Jones University received honors at a national vocal competition.

Timothy Renner, received 2nd place in the young artist division of The Orpheous National Music Competition for Young Artists.

The competition, sponsored by the Middle Tennessee Choral Society, was held on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The competition features a student division (19-24) and a young artist division (25-30) and awards a total of $17,700 across both divisions.

Renner was awarded the $2,500 2nd place prize in the young artist division of the contest.

The Woodbridge, Va. resident received his degree Music Education in 2010 and his masters in Church Music in 2012 from Bob Jones University. 

He is currently pursuing a doctor of musical arts (DMA) in voice performance and literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
