BMW Among 11 Finalists For Top Manufacturing Honor
In Greenville and Spartanburg Counties, four manufacturers are up for Silver Crescent Awards.

BMW, which is coming off of a banner year, is among several Upstate manufacturers competing for top honors at the 2012 Silver Crescent Awards for Manufacturing Excellence.
The Silver Crescent recognizes the achievements and contributions of South Carolina’s top manufacturers. Winners will be announced March 21 at a recognition luncheon in Greenville.
BMW, whose North American manufacturing headquarters are in Greer, is a finalist for large manufacturers employing more than 500 people. Southern Weaving, located in Greenville, is a finalist in the mid-sized category, employing between 200 to 499 people. PropertyBoss Solutions, located in Greenville and Spartanburg Meat Packing Co. in Spartanburg are both finalists in the small manufacturer category for businesses employing 199 or less people.

The Silver Crescent Awards go to the manufacturing operations demonstrationg the "seven crescents of excellence": Citizenship, employee engagement, customer satisfaction, environmental stewardship, innovation, financial performance and commitment to longevity in South Carolina.

“Our evaluation system scrutinized every nominee’s application closely for performance in all seven Crescents of Excellence,” said Tony Smith, president of the Silver Crescent Foundation. “Our goal is to recognize the best of the best in South Carolinamanufacturing – whether large, medium or small in company size – and these 11 finalists represent the very best our state has to offer.”
A national panel of expert judges is reviewing the finalists’ applications to determine winners, Smith added. All finalist companies will be recognized, and category winners announced, on March 21 at the TD Convention Center.
