BMW Continues Expansion

BMW plant in Greer remains on course to add some 1,000 jobs over the next two years.

The BMW manufacturing plan in Greer is still on schedule to add some 1,000 jobs over the next two years, GreerToday.com reports.

BMW's North American manufacturing headquarters in Greer is also on pace to hire some 300 people by the end of the year, officials say. 

The jobs are part of a $900 million investment to be implemented through 2014, including a 170,000 square-foot expansion to the body shop and 300,000 square-feet added to the paint shop.

BMW also recently announced The BMW Scholars program, which is offered to students looking for manufacturing-related degrees at Tri-County Tech, Greenville Tech and Spartanburg Community College. BMW Scholars are allowed to work part-time at BMW while attending school, and can become candidates for full-time employment after attaining their degrees.
