Bob Jones Academy Students Helping Sandy Victims

A dozen students affected by the super storm are receiving gifts and supplies.

Elementary students at Bob Jones Academy (BJA) are celebrating the Christmas holiday by giving to other students in need. This year, BJA elementary students donated gifts and supplies to 12 students who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

"It's thrilling to see our children care about their fellow students in the Northeast who lost everything because of the hurricane," said Jennifer Klipp, assistant principal at BJA Elementary School. "During this time of year when we consider God giving us the greatest gift in Jesus, it's especially important for us to demonstrate his love to those around us. This is just a small way of showing others the love of God for them."

The elementary students collected more than 38 boxes and 12 backpacks full of gifts and supplies, including hats, gloves, coats, school supplies, sports equipment, board games, jewelry and toys, as well as $1,500 in gift cards. The donated items were delivered to The Pilgrim Academy in Egg Harbor, N.J., to be distributed to the affected students, who range from second to 11th grade. Some of the gifts were transported to Egg Harbor by several Bob Jones University students as they headed home for the Christmas break.

Past years' gifts have gone to support other students and children at Bethel Christian Academy and Miracle Hill Boys Home in Greenville, as well as to those affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
