Brushy Creek Principal Among Greenville's 'Best And Brightest'

Greenville Business Magazine lists Charles Davis among 34 others in the community who affect the area with not only their careers, but community service.

Charles Davis, the interim principal at Brushy Creek Elementary School in Taylor's east side, has been named one of Greenville's "Best And Brightest 35 And Under" by Greenville Business Magazine. 

The annual list compiles the names of 35 community leaders 35 and under who demonstrate their value to their communities not only through their careers, but through volunteer service.

"As a school principal, Charles is responsible for supervising teachers and en­suring the success of all students. His duties include evaluating teachers and staff, facilitating and supervising the academic achievement of all students, and maintaining positive relationships with parents and students.  He has been a workshop presenter and focus group planner for the GCS Assistant Principals’ Institute, member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, participant in the U.S. Secretary of Education’s 2010 National Roundtable Dis­cussion, and a participant in TEACH.GOV, a national initiative to raise awareness of the teaching profession."

Davis earned his undergraduate degree from Morris College and his master's degree from Clemson University, as well as leadership supervision certification from Clemson.

He comes to Brushy Creek by way of Woodland Elementary School, where he had been assistant principal. Before that he had been an administrative assistant at Rudolph G. Gordon Elementary, a counselor at Hillcrest High School and a teacher at Lake Forest and Greenview Elementary Schools. 

He will be recognized for being named to the list at an awards event on Sept. 18.
