Christmas Events Being Held This Weekend

From choral events to tree lightings, holiday events abound this weekend in our area.

If you're looking to get into the holiday spirit, this weekend offers plenty of opportunities for you to be filled with Christmas cheer. 

From Greer to downtown Greenville, there are multiple events being held to usher in the holiday season this weekend. 

Bob Jones University will hold its Christmas event Friday night. At 6:15 p.m., BJU's University Singers will hold a concert, followed by a period of Christmas carols at 6:30 p.m. By 6:45 p.m., the college's lights, which stretch across campus and illuminate a stretch of Wade Hampton Boulevard, will be switched on.

The City of Greer will hold its Christmas Tree Lighting will be held Friday night as well. Special activities are planned for children beginning at 5 p.m., including inflatable bounce houses on the City Park lawn. All are encouraged to bring canned food items and coats to assist the needy in the Greater Greer area. Santa will be at the tree following the ceremony to greet families and pose for free photos.

On Saturday, the Christmas Concert performed by the Greenville Technical College Chorus will be held at the 2nd Presbyterian Church at 105 River Street in Greenville. The event will begin at 4 p.m., and is free of charge.

The Greenville Poinsettia Christmas Parade will be held Saturday night, beginning at 6 p.m. The event, which lasts until 7:30 p.m., featured roughly 85 floats last year. 

In Greer, "Breakfast With Santa" will be held at Cannon Centre, but we hope you already purchased tickets, because the event sold out in just 24 hours. 

The Jaycees Christmas Parade will be held Sunday in Greer beginning at 2:30 p.m. marching bands and decorated floats will make their way down West Poinsett Street and North Main Street.
