Cookbook Raises Money For Parents Of Izzy Powell
"Cooking Is Love" raised money for the Powells after they lost their daughter.

The friends of Landon and Allyson Powell showed their support of them and their love of the Powells' recently deceased daughter through a special cookbook.Â
Isabel Faye "Izzy" Powell, the 4-month-old daughter of former Gamecock baseball standout Landon Powell and Eastside High School graduate Allyson Davies, died on Jan. 25.Â
Izzy had been diagnosed with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, a condition where the immune system attacks the bone marrow and in Izzy's case, caused her liver to be too big for her body.

With medical bills undoubtedly stacking up, Erin Harvey, a friend of the couple, helped spearhead an effort to sell a cookbook made in Izzy's memory, with 100 percent of the proceeds to help the Powells.Â
"Cooking Is Love - A Collection Of Recipes In Memory Of The Warrior Princess" sold for $15 in the Greenville area, and $20 shipped elsewhere. Some 1,800 people liked the book's Facebook page.Â

Davies made a comment on a Facebook page devoted to Izzy's battle with the liver condition:
"Landon and I have received several messages regarding the cookbook made in Izzy's honor and we wanted to address them. Some very sweet high school friends of mine came together to create this for us. While Landon and I have been cautious about donations and wanted to keep this about Izzy and the power of prayer, we are grateful that we have such thoughtful people in our lives. Medical bills are certainly in the millions and insurance does not pay everything. This is absolutely a legitimate endeavor and has been thoroughly thought out and researched by some wonderful people. We are sad that this even has to be addressed, but unfortunately we know people can capitalize off of awful situations. If you feel led to help us, we certainly are appreciative. If you do not, we can still certainly use your prayers as coping with our daughter loss has and will always be extremely difficult for this family. Thank you friends, and a big thank you to my sweet high school friends for putting this together."
