Deputies Investigating 2 Officer Impersonation Cases

In both incidents the subject stated that the victims had unpaid traffic tickets and attempted to get them to take care of the ticket.

Greenville County Sheriff's deputies are investigating two cases of officer impersonation.

Deputies said the subject called the victims stating he was Lt. Anthony Johnson with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

In both incidents the subject stated that the victims had unpaid traffic tickets and attempted to get them to take care of the ticket. Both victims refused to provide any information over the phone and the subject became angry and hung up on the victims.

The Sheriff's Office made with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and they were able to confirm that they do not have anyone by the name Lt. Anthony Johnson who works at their agency.

Deputies ask that if anyone receives similar calls to report them immediately to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office to file a report. The public is advised not to provide any personal information over the telephone.
